DW4NY: Digital Volunteer Resources

About one million people will vote in the June 23 Democratic primary. Most of them have never heard of this race. No ad budget alone reaches all of them — but you can.

We're asking you to identify 50 people in your life who live in New York State and might vote in the June 23 Democratic primary, and send each of them a personal email explaining why you're supporting Drew.

If 1,000 supporters each contact 50 people, that's 50,000 personal conversations from trusted messengers. In a low-turnout June primary, it could make the difference between winning and losing.

Here's how you can help in just five steps.

But first! Can we count on your vote? Pledge your vote at drewwarshaw.com/pledge

STEP 1: Plan!

You're looking for people who are registered Democrats or likely to be — and who live in New York State. Include anyone you'd feel comfortable sending a short message about something you care about.

If you need some ideas on where to get started, you can use this worksheet: HERE

STEP 2: Write!

Write in your own words, if you can. But to help you get started, we've created three templates depending on how much time you have and how well you know the person. Or, simply just copy and paste if you're not sure what to say.

Prefer texting? We have templates for that too!

STEP 3: Send!

Send from your personal email account, not a bulk tool. You don't have to send all 50 at once. Do whatever works for you — just get them out before June 10 so people have time to make a plan to vote.

Quick Tip: A short subject line that sounds like you ("Quick ask" or "wanted to tell you about this") will get opened. A subject line that sounds like a campaign email won't.

Do your contacts have questions? We've prepared a document of Frequently Asked Questions to help you navigate any follow-up conversations.

STEP 4: follow up!

One week before the primary...

Send a short follow-up to anyone who didn't respond. Most people aren't ignoring you — they're busy. A second email a week out converts a surprising number of non-responders.

STEP 5: tell us how it went!

When you're done, fill out our quick report-back form.
